WHY I PRO-STAFF

So my journey started years ago. I realized how much fishing was helping me deal with the dreaded. I never talk about or tell people about my struggles with “PTSD/PTS" (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder). You see for me, fishing is my release. It took me some time to figure out that it was the “catch” that I was hooked on, and my “release” from thinking about the things I couldn’t get rid of in my mind.
I soon found myself with a boat and fishing as much as possible. I started talking to different friends, and the word pro-staff came to light for me. What did it entail and is it worth it for me? I hear a lot of people say, 'oh you just want a discount or want free stuff.' Actually, for me, that couldn’t be further from the truth. I found a way to entangle myself more into the sport that I love. It all started with a company backed by the same principles, beliefs, and a first responder who understands the mental struggles of that line of work. (911 Custom Lures) Now don’t get me wrong, I did go through some companies that did not suit my taste, but that’s not what this is about.

I kept finding smaller companies that were Veteran owned, backed first responders, and really wanted to make a difference. It’s the smaller companies I found that let you grow with them, like TRC Covers, Wicked Weights, and Vicious Fishing. Each of these companies differ from the owners, but care about their people. More recently, I've been helping Crossed Industries, Crossbone Outfitter, and Thin Blue Tight Lines, which are all Veteran Owned or First Responder ran.
You might as why I want to do Pro-Staff and you say its not worth it. It may not be what some people are looking for, but for me, it's my release and another piece of my puzzle to help keep my mind at ease and to help keep me busy. I love it. I love the companies and I have found many friends through them that I know would have my back on a bad day. That’s why I pro-staff. That’s why I choose to help support and bring business to these smaller companies. You see, fishing and the support of it, is my "Catch and Release". I’ll leave you with this: get out on the water and make a difference. Take someone fishing because it might save them, or they may find their own "catch and release."
